Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science
Aiming at engineers and researchers who can contribute to the world through science and technology.
Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science has two Education Programs (EP), namely the Mechanical Engineering Program and the Materials Science and Engineering Program. In order to nurture engineers and researchers who can contribute to the creation of a society where we can live comfortably and safely, both the EPs impart education that develops the sense of ethics and culture for engaging in science and technology, as well as the basic engineering competencies that can prepare them for a wide range of disciplines. In addition, both the EPs impart advanced professional education with features that lead to technological innovations suited to their respective areas of expertise. In the Mechanical Engineering Program, students can acquire specialized skills in mechanical engineering, related to various types of machines such as robots, aircrafts, automobiles, energy systems, welfare and medical equipment, and various production facilities. In the Materials Science and Engineering Program, students can acquire expertise in characterization and analysis of metals, ceramics, semiconductors and their applied materials and materials development based on such characterization and analysis.
Education Programs
Mechanical Engineering Program
Mechanical Engineering is one of the engineering fields that deals with the machines and mechanical systems. In this Education Program, we focus on education in foundation areas such as material mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical dynamics and automatic control, and foster the talented human resources who can play an active part in a variety of fields by systematically educating them about the fundamentals of mechanical engineering.
Materials Science and Engineering Program
Materials Science and Engineering is one of the engineering fields that facilitates manufacturing by applying the fundamental chemistry and physics. It imparts fundamental and structured education about materials such as metals, ceramics, semiconductors and their peripheral materials, and nurtures materials engineers or researchers who contribute to the development and design of functional and structural materials.
